Strawberry fields forever
It is Mother's Day. I spent the morning digging out the grass under our apple tree and planted 10 crowns of Strawberries - Everbearing Hecker. Around the apple tree I seeded Sonota Cosmos, and against the window some sugar snap peas. I filled a planter with Bijou and Patio sweet peas, and indoors I seeded a basil pot with Queen Siam, Holy Basil and Sweet Basil. While digging, I found an old toy Sheriff Hot Wheels car that must have been lost and buried years ago when the kids were younger... it made me smile. I'm certainly feeling this transition to a new phase of life – my first Mother's Day without a living mother and the youngest nearly a teen. I'm reading "What do I want to be when they grow up" by Karen Johnson and pondering a few ideas.
