Ink sketches of seedling of onion, celeriac, herbs, peppers and ground cherries
First entry in garden sketch journal March 24, 2026

I really should have just published this in March when I uploaded the sketch. I don't know where April went, but now we have hit manic May for gardening, so I would really like to start keeping an online record of the gardening I am doing.

My general plans for the season are to focus on tomatoes, peas and cucumbers in my backyard with peppers, herbs, and ground cherries in pots. I'll try flowers in my front yard and back alley. I have garlic coming up from what I planted last fall and I've transplanted a few of my yellow globe onions in with them.

I have a bed for pole beans, peas, parsley, and root vegetables (carrots, potatoes and beets) for the Southwood Calgary's Cooking program at the Lutheran Church of the Cross.

Finally, I have started three beds at the Southwood Community Garden this year, which is all I can handle there. We do still have a few good beds for rent, I hope they get rented this month. Last week, my son and I have seeded peas, carrots, radishes, mesculun, spinach, bok choy, kale, potatoes, beets, and transplanted onions
